Here at Interactive Remix we have a long history of working with the Girl Scouts. One of our first clients was the Girl Scout Council of the Catawba Valley Area. From 2005-2009 we managed their website and all of their web applications until they merged with three other councils to create the Girls Scouts Carolinas Peaks 2 Piedmont Council (GSP2P).
And while there have been lots of changes within the Girl Scouts organization, our relationship with them remains the same. We were recently asked to do a redesign of GSP2P's current website: www.girlscoutsp2p.org. One of their main objectives was to freshen up their design and to move all of their content into a content management system. We just completed a major upgrade to our ExtremeCMS content management system, so the timing was perfect.
We traditionally provide up to three (3) design concepts for a client, but we often get lucky in the first round and never have to return to the drawing board. And that's exactly what happened in this case.
We presented our first concept (shown above) to the people in charge over at GSP2P and they absolutely loved it! The biggest surprise was that we did a complete redesign instead of building on elements from the old Catawba Valley website. In our initial conversations, GSP2P wanted to just use the design elements from the Catawba Valley website so that we could skip the design process and get their site up and running as soon as possible. But as it were, we had a moment of inspiration during one of our design sessions and that's how this new concept was born.
On Friday, December 18, 2009 we received the first round of feedback from our contacts at GSP2P. Aside from some formal changes to bring the website in line with the new format for all Girl Scouts websites, GSP2P loved our first concept and have decided to move forward with this design.
Here at Interactive Remix we are really excited about this project! The design captures a lot of the core aspects of the Girl Scouts' mission while maintaining a very professional and organized look.
The new GSP2P is scheduled to launch sometime in January 2010 so check back soon for more updates! We hope you like the design!
