
Open Position: Jr. Web Developer
Interactive Remix is looking for a part-time web developer who is proficient with HTML and CSS for a variety of web development projects. Experience with CMS and/or eCommerce systems is a plus but is not required.
Key Responsibilities
- Working with designers to build websites based on supplied Photoshop or Fireworks designs
- Producing table-less, XHTML, standards-compliant cross browser, and gracefully-degrading code
- Build websites using technologies that conform to international standards and make sure that they are universally accessible
- Testing the websites for functionality in different browsers and at different resolutions
- Ensuring that the layout of the content is accessible and logical; recommending improvements if necessary
- Performing maintenance and updates to existing websites when requested by clients
- Work on projects from conceptualization to execution while meeting all deadlines
General Proficiencies
- Able to work independently and efficiently to meet deadlines
- Able to promptly answer support related email, phone calls and other communications
- Self motivated, detail-oriented and organized
- Excellent communication (oral and written), interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills
- Ability to learn new internet and authoring technologies relevant to web site design/development
- Ability to design within standards set forth by the W3C
- Working knowledge of cross browser compatibility issues and how to work around them
- Excited about and interested in exploring new and emerging technologies and methods
- Knowledge of SEO (search engine optimization) techniques and best practices
Development Proficiencies
- HTML, DHTML, XHMTL, Javascript (jQuery).
- Web forms, form elements, error handling, and manipulation
- Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) use and implementation
- Experience with, but not limited to, the following design tools: (The Web Developer will not be expected to create custom design concepts or layouts)
- Image Editing (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Fireworks)
- HTML Editing (Adobe Dreamweaver)
- Vector Graphics (Adobe Illustrator)
- Image optimization and slicing, image maps, animations
- Experience with embedding multimedia and interactive media into web content
- PHP/mySQL (The Web Developer will not be expected to write PHP/mySQL applications but will be expected to be familiar with the technologies as they are used in 99% of all our web development projects)
Working Conditions
The Web Developer will report directly to the VP/Chief Operations Officer. With the exception of staff meetings, client meetings, and other job related travel, the Web Developer will work remotely (telecommuting). However, the Web Developer must live within the Triangle Area. The Web Developer will be expected to be easily accessible by phone, email, and instant messenger as needed.
Compensation
